Understanding the Bible: The Curse Given to Mankind by God

Genesis Chapter 3

Why did God curse the serpent, the ground, and put enmity between the serpent and the woman? After the creation of the woman, the serpent showed up to deceive Adam’s wife, Eve. Also, to open the Couples’ eyes to the knowledge of good and evil.

Adam and Eve’s covering was stripped from them in their nakedness by hiding in the garden of Eden. God asked Adam, “Who told thee that thou wast naked?” The new awakening of the mind has been transformed from eating of the tree, where God has commanded them not to eat.

From this point forward, many believe that God set them up to fail. I believe that this is not true. Everyone who has this knowledge of good and evil must die physically in order to live again. The presence of the Lord God is known among the trees of the garden. Job states in chapter 31 verse 33, “If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom:” Iniquity is wickedness of evil doings, immoral, or unfair behavior.

Sin has separated mankind from God. Adam allowed Eve to act in opposition to God’s commandment by listening to the serpent’s enchantment. There was fear happening when they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden. Where there is fear, faith is stripped away from the individual believing in God’s provision. Without faith, it is impossible to trust in the Lord God’s word. Since they (Adam and Eve) choose to be disobedient, a curse of sound resounds throughout the earth.

A curse is the opposite of a blessing, ill-fortunate, the loss of valuable treasures. Let’s read Genesis 3:14 -21 to get an understanding of the curse said by the Lord God:

14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

The serpent is from the beast of the field which the Lord had made. This fallen angel, the great dragon called the Devil and Satan has entered into the beast; which deceived Eve and her husband into bitting the forbidden fruit. Because of the serpent’s participation, it was cursed to crawl on its belly.

1And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Enmity means the state or feeling of being actively opposed or hostile to someone or something. God restricted the serpent’s antagonistic action with mankind (her offspring). The woman will bring forth the Savior of the world through her sorrow and conception.

16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

Thy desire to Eve’s husband, Adam meant that their opinions will differ from each other, but he will rule over her (be in subject to the husband). In pain, the wife will conceive children, as a reminder of her disobedience. However, it will bring happiness to the family.

Listen to what Lamech had to say after the birth of Noah, his son, “This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord hath cursed (Genesis 5:29).”

17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Living in Eden was simple and free! The serpent came and created obstacles for Adam, Eve, and everyone born must overcome this sorrow. Thank the Lord for Jesus Christ! He has paid the guilt and shamed for us to be right before the Almighty God.

20 And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

The sledding of blood has remittance of sins according to Hebrews 9:22, “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.” God showed Adam and Eve how to offer an offering correctly by clothing them physically with His presence.

If you worship the God of this universe correctly, you will not live away from His presence. To do so, it has a penalty to be accursed. “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God (John 3:19-21).”

Do not subject yourself to this curse, but come to a genuine self-revelation of the law given to all. If you live by the truth, you will come to the light and be set free (John 8:36).
