Biblical Record of Lamech
Genesis 4:19-24
Man1 was seduced by angelic beings2 to give us the arts of dance, music, painting, sculpture, theater, poetry, and architecture. Each activity is done by people with skill and imagination to distract us from God.
Through the lineage of Cain and Enoch, Lamech was born in the sixth generation. He got married to two wives: the name of one was Adah and the other name was Zilah.
The names of Lamech’s children are Jabal, Jubal, Tubal-Cain, and sister, Naamah.
Jabal was the first nomadic shepherd. Jubal was the father of all musical instruments. Tubal-Cain was the first to work with metals. Naamah was Tubal-Cain’s sister.
Many believers in Christianity learn that Lucifer is the father of all instruments. Is that true after learning about Lamech’s children? It is clearly stated in verse 21: “And his brother’s name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.”
Why did the bible tell us that Jubal was the father of musical instruments? When the holy scriptures share additional information about a person, you MUST pay attention to it. It is telling about human experiences as well as spiritual ones. It could as well have said that Jubal played harps and flutes if it was about entertainment. No, it is about pride and spiritual destruction.
Man has a difficult time recognizing prophecies about our roles in the end times. This is why Sensible Worship was created to discuss a topic on the origin of praise and worship. It is the most important thing to learn about. So, why not start with who created all things in this world and the one to come. In the beginning3 according to John 1:3, “All things were made by him (Jesus, the Word of God); and without him was not any thing made that was made.” The Lord God gives us grace and truth to see the wisdom spoken of in Ezekiel 28:13, as we read the correct study about “tabrets and pipes” in that scripture.
As far as we know, Lucifer was an anointed angelic cherub (v.14) who thought he could win the game of life. However, God sent a warning to him:
“Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.”
The message to the prince of Tyrus (natural-literal sense) is also to the serpent (the devil, Satan) (spiritual sense) who was found in Genesis chapter 4 in the garden of God’s Eden. On the first day of the creation, Lucifer received every precious stone as his covering. Do you remember Joseph’s coat of many colors? Jacob, his father, gives him a unique rob. The Lord God in the same way gives the anointed angelic cherub a bedazzled gemstone robe with gold.

Tabrets from that verse are misinformed because it is the only word translated for “setting” (timbrel) and not for a tambourine we have for today. Timbrel according to Ezekiel’s message to the prince of this world, is not music or even musical instruments. “Thy pipes” from the same verse were talking about the workmanship created within the garment. Every gemstone is set with a holding socket. This precious metal was gold.
You are seeing the splendor of the created Lucifer by the workman of the Lord. Just as a jeweler mounted the precious gems from gold since made. In order words, Satan had the best in any way. Now, he is a deceiver and destructionist.
The Lord God warned Lucifer of his sins, before stealing the wisdom given to man. In his perfection, Lucifer got a “BIG HEAD!” So his sins told on him – the proudful heart. It is the same today through false biblical teaching. Many are told that music is worship. If we take lyrics from the world and change the words to mention God, Jesus, or the Lord. We are worshipping acceptable. You would think so! No way, it’s more like dancing is to a professional liar. If not done God’s correct way, you are deceiving yourself too.
If you truly study to show yourself approved unto God, then we will understand in our minds that we can not go from precious metals to music from Ezekiel 28:13. Jubal, not Lucifer, is the father of all “such as handle” a musical instrument.
