Also I [Nehemiah] shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the Lord. And the people did according to this promise.

Nehemiah’s gesture with his robe was a vivid illustration of the divine punishment he was invoking upon violators. Don’t make promises you cannot keep! The people of God said, Amen, and praise the Lord.

Why was this written for us today? According to Romans 15:4 it states, “For whatever was written [in the bible] in earlier times was written for our instruction so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope and overflow with confidence in His [God’s] promises.”

Many will go on this journey with Christ, but will not enter into God’s kingdom because they didn’t endure to the end. Please make sure that you are keeping God’s commands and have hope and confidence in His promises to you. Stay focused my brother or sister in Christ, this is my encouragement to you today. See you at the end.

If you agree say, “AMEN” in the comment area with your praise to the Lord.
