#14 What is your intention when giving an offering to the Lord? Don’t know, Read This!

List of Unacceptable Worship Actions Towards God

#14 Strange offerings. What is it?

Strang Offerings is to offer a sacrifice with no understanding and disregarding the Holy Spirit or disobeying God’s commands.

What is your intention when giving an offering to the Lord? Do you know that obedience is better than sacrifice? Many go to church or their assembly to worship God. However, they were not taught how to worship God correctly. If you are not giving what God wants, you need to stop thinking about it. You must understand before you can serve or worship Him. You cannot play around with your worship. The Holy Spirit of the Living God knows your heart’s intent.

Anyone mocking God or the Holy Spirit will never get to heaven. You must remember the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. Let’s read a few scriptures so you must get the point of this article for you:

Leviticus 10:1-3 “And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the Lord, which he commanded them not. 2And there went out fire from the Lord, and devoured them, and they died before the Lord. 3Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the Lord spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.”

Yes, Lord, you should be saying to yourself! Never give God something that He did not ask for. Nadab and Abihu prepared an incense offering upon kindling of their own, and not of the holy incense from the sacred bronze altar. They weren’t obedient to what God told Moses to do. This was seen as foreign or unholy fire in God’s sight. When you come to the Creator God or His Son, Jesus, you must give what pleases them. They are Holy, and no one can come to them incorrectly.

Numbers 26:61 expressed Aaron’s sons again, Nadab and Abihu, by saying that they died when they offered unauthorized sacrifice in the presence of God. Will you remember this story? You cannot take God’s grace and mercy for granted. It is so very important to submit yourself correctly before God.

That was the Old Testament’s bad intent, now I will give another story about giving from the New Testament. It is found in Acts 5:1-11:

But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, 2And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet. 3But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? 4Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. 5And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. 6And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. 8And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. 9Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out. 10Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.11And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 1:7 KJV

If you do not FEAR the Lord, why are you worshipping Him? Please think about it. God must be glorified in all that you do, privately or publicly. Never make a vow to the Lord and not kept it. The Holy Spirit is present when you do. Never lie in your actions, like Ananias and Sapphira. Remember what Apostle Peter said, “thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.”

Just as I said to my children, good intention is never enough. You can have a purpose in your heart to do something, plan something, or aim for something without follow-through is NOTHING!

Today’s so-called Christians must recognize the commandment of God, and do what God is saying to us. In Christ, we have the ability to follow the Lord. Don’t give up! Endure to the end of times. The Holy Spirit is aware of your faith (1 Timothy 4:1). You cannot lie about it. Worship with all your heart, mind, and soul – in the correct manner without a strange offering.
