Worshipping God In Truth
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” – Proverbs 14:12
Do you recall the previous lesson about vain worship? Any worship you do must be respected. It must be done well, for God to accept it from you, according to Genesis 4:7. Our worship must be genuine from John 4:24, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth,” or it is vain worship from Matthew 15:9, “But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” Vain worship is like having our way with a demand stating to God, “You must accept it!” Are you serious? He is not obligated to do so.
We are looking for the latest fade in religious circles – books, dvds, conferences, seminars, whatever trinket, instead of conversing with the Holy Spirit of truth (John 15:26). Jesus says in John 14:17, “Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” If you believe in worshipping God in truth on this day, the Holy Spirit is always here to help us to worship: “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).
The fact remains the same: we must do what God’s will for us if we would like to go to heaven to be with Him.
God’s instructions for worship were given to Adam and then passed on to his sons from the beginning until our present-day worship experience. We must worship in spirit and in truth through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; who is “the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Him” (John 14:6). Worshipping God requires you to accept His Son in the truth of His Word. If not, you are not worshipping God! Hopefully, you are seeing that God has ordered from these praise and worship lessons; something provided for us before the laws of Moses were given to us to read.
What is our response to this truth? 2 Peter 1:3 states, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:” Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. The best invitation we ever received from the Holy Spirit of truth! As a result, we love, appreciate, honor, and respect the One who created us – God has made us to worship in the knowledge of the truth. Make a conscious decision, aware of the truth, to do God’s commandments. What pleases Him the most – worshipping only Him in truth?
