We Must Worship Only God
The majority of the world offers unacceptable worship, and God will not accept it. The Bible tells us that God is a jealous God, and will not tolerate the worship of another—false gods, wrong form or attitude of worship. Let’s read a few scriptures:
“For you shall worship no other god; for the Lord, Whose name is Jealous, is jealous (impassioned) God,” -Exodus 34:14
“And I will not give My glory to another [by permitting the worshipers of idols to triumph over you].” -Isaiah 48:11b
“You shall worship the Lord your God and Him only shall you serve.” – Matthew 4:10
What about all the people who worship their own gods, because they believe they are right in their form of worship? Yes, they are sincere in their worship, but He won’t accept it. So, the answer is No!! It is unacceptable to God for anyone to worship something or someone, and not Him. This is why it is important for you to learn about acceptable worship and its purpose for your life.
If we worship God in spirit and in truth, we cannot worship anyone or anything else. To do so, you are worshipping an idol. According to Webster, an idol is “an image used as an object or instrument of worship.”
God forbids His children to make and worship idols, according to Exodus 20:4, “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.” Any image whether it is a statue or any likeness, you cannot worship them. Celebrities and Past Icons are being worshiped every day by people who should know better, and I’m talking about Bishops, Ministers, and Pastors as well. God’s People should never bow down and pray to statues, painted pictures, relics, or the dead. It will be wrong for me not to say that worshipping the dead is wrong and unacceptable. You cannot turn the memory of them into a saint. Only living people are called saints, not dead folks. The dead cannot do anytime to help the living. Please think about what I’m saying about celebrating the dead. This is a direct violation against the commands of God.
Let us always be obedient and guard ourselves against evil, false unacceptable worship, and worshipping angels. 1 John 5:21 tells us, “My little children, guard yourselves from idols.” “Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worshipping angels (Colossians 2:18).” If you think that all idolaters are going to hell for their disobedient. You are right, but in Revelations 21:8, tells us that these “idolaters shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone [as well], which is the second death.” We must only worship God and our worship must be in spirit and in truth if we expect to be with Him in heaven when this earthly life is over.
