#6 Why do people call on the Lord God with no true purpose?

From the List of Unacceptable Worship Actions Towards God

#6 Calling on God vainly.

Exodus 20:7 “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.”

Why are people calling on the Lord God with no purpose? I know you heard some foul language from people today, even some so-called Christians.

Why?! This isn’t right. If you are living in obedience to God’s word, you will never call on the Lord in vain – right? Everyone who does this action – profanity – while speaking to other people will never give acceptable worship to the Lord.

“If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen (1 John 4:20)?”

God loves those who are made in His image. Cursing out God’s image is like projecting those words onto God Himself. Would you swear at Him? If you have read Leviticus 19:12, you will know what God is saying to you:

“And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the Lord.”

This 3rd commandment is declared by truth. “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.”

But, how many adopted these cures or swear words? I hope you stop saying them all together: lord cocksucker · sweet Jesus · bollocks · bullshit · God-damn · bastard · asshole · dick head · shit · piss off · F*ck you · Lord · son of bitch · Oh my God, plus other words that are not right to say.

Stop expressing these evil words to others, and calling on God with no true purpose. Every idle word that you spoke, they will be repaid according to Matthew 12:36:

“But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

If you are in Christ Jesus, you should be aware of this command given by Moses and Jesus Himself. This is important to know and understand. Blaspheming the Holy Spirit, you should never do. Let’s read the following scripture for your answer about this act:

Matthew 12:30-32 “He that is not with me is against me, and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. 31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. 32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.”

God is a forgiving God, however, talking against the Holy Ghost (Spirit) will NEVER be forgiven period! God can never be disrespected in any way. Blasphemy means to insult or show contempt for the Creator God, or His son, Jesus Christ, or the Holy Spirit of the Living God without reverence. It is a written or verbal reproach against God’s name, character, attribute, or work. For example, the Pharisees were eyewitnesses to Jesus’ miracles, but they attributed the work of the Holy Spirit to the presence of a demon (Mark 3:22-30).

Children of the Law of Moses will continue to practice sinning against the flesh (like the Pharisees’ lack of understanding of God’s truth in the spirit), while the Children of the Grace of God will renew their minds through Christ to help them stop this worldly practice. Anyone who does this is not a true child of God Almighty and their worship is unacceptable to Him. From now on, I hope you will never call on God’s name in vain (or your Lord Jesus) after learning about the true purpose of not being rude and disrespectful to your Lord and God.
