Praise and Worship Devotional for July 27

Worship God

And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the Lord their God one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed, and worshipped the Lord their God.

They stood there for about three hours, and the people read the Book of the Law of the Lord their God. Then for three more hours, they confessed their sins and bowed down to worship the Lord their God.

Will the people of God worship today in the same manner? Will they have a Christian Praise and Worship Awareness Day? Remembering the past helps many of us to appreciate the present. This is what the children of Israel were doing in the month of July. They stood in agreement as Ezra the prophet read the Book of the Law on the 24th day of the same month. The Israelites came together during a fasting period to confess their sins and their ancestors.

This festival was done ever year called Yom Kippur (Day of atonement). Watch the video to hear the meaning of atonement; which shows Jesus as our subsitute. Let’s read about it in the book of Romans 5:9-11:

9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Praise the Lord, you and I have been reconciled back to God again! Every year in the month of September the Day of Atonement is celebrated. I suggest that you start now to learn about its vital important to you.
